Pink peppercorns

Pink Peppercorns

The Pink Peppercorns do not come from Genus Piper like Green, White and Black Peppercorns. Pink Peppercorns are dried berries of a shrub, Schinus Molle, commonly known as the Peruvian peppertree. They look similar to the Green, White and Black peppercorns except the colour which is pink. They yield similar but lighter pepper taste; they just don’t come from the genus piper. They also yield an exceptionally  unique fruity and floral taste.

The pepper like taste and sensation comes due to the piperine oil, which is also found in all the other peppercorns. They have become known as a peppercorn over the years due to this resembling taste features to other peppercorns.
